Log on Tester Version 10.1
S&M Shareware
Created By Mike Allstott
Introduction
-----------
Log on Tester is a small door program designed to help keep your
BBS guests from loging on in other peoples names. It is meant to be added
to your Logon.bat or SECXX.bat where your guests will be tested before
being allowed in your system. The test will be either there date of birth
or there phone number. If the guest gets the question wrong 3 times, they
will be disconnected and there name will be added to LTEST.LOG. Log on
tester will also send a message to the individual asking why they didn't
pass the log on test. The program uses Tdoor and the TriBBS API Developed
By Mark, of course.
** Please Note: When testing this program locally it does
not disconnect you from the BBS. It DOES
if you log on from a remote node.

Registration
------------
Logon Tester is shareware. It is 100% usable unregistered.
Registration will remove NAG message and get you my gratitude. It's just
a small door so I'm asking a small price, $10.00. That's it. Your receive a
key code via Stephanie's Nightmare BBS or US postal. This key will work
for all future upgrades. < YES! I mean it will work for ALL upgrades >
Installation
------------
To set up simply run the included SETUP utility. Change the settings
to match you're system. If you want to use a text editor instead I have
included the format of the configuration file below. Logon Tester must be on
the same DRIVE as you're node 1 directory. it does not have to be in the
same directory. (I recomend putting it in it's own directory) You will
need on configuration file for each node.
TRIBBS <--- Must be TRIBBS no others supported
D:\tribbs <--- Directory of drop file (Node)
Stephanie's Nightmare <--- Name of BBS
Mike Allstott <--- Name of Sysop
38400 <--- Locked baud rate
d:\tribbs <--- Node 1's Main directory
0 <--- Registration number
1 <--- Conference Number to put messages in
You can name this file anything you like.
Next put the program into your LOGON.BAT as shown below....
Ltest <Config file> <IRQ>
Where Config file is the same name you used above, and IRQ is a
nonstandard IRQ if used. If you don't use a non-standard you don't need to
put anything there.
The File LTEST.MSG is the text file sent to a guest if he fails the
log-on test. You may change this file to anything you like and it will support
all @ codes in the TriBBS Message base.
